Charlie stopped me today to ask if I had any money for him. He’s a middle aged man with a cat and a mortgage, and I’m not sure what else. He is adamant about gun rights, and when he offered to sell me an unregistered .38 caliber revolver, I agreed. It is still unregistered and sits loaded in my closet like a coat I’ll never wear. Emily wants me to get rid of it; she’s afraid I’ll do something stupid. So now we have a rapport, Charlie Green and I, though I’m not sure I’ll actually pay him for it, and he doesn’t seem too eager to alert anyone to our transaction. I don’t ask him if he notices any adverse effects from the chemicals we use.
